Born and raised in Singapore, I ran for the country’s National Track and Field Team, completed my mandatory military service, then came to the U.S. on an athletic scholarship to study at UCLA. During undergrad, I tried various adventure sports, including surfing, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, rock climbing, skiing, and hiking. But after a summer trip to Pulau Tioman, I got open water certified, and scuba diving became my primary passion.
After completing my B.A. in Economics, I worked in real estate finance in Los Angles, before taking a few years off to go home to Singapore and travel Asia with my then fiancée (now wife Lisa Walsh). During this time, I completed my PADI instructor course and taught at dive resorts in Malaysia and Vietnam. I eventually returned to Los Angeles to continue my work in real estate finance. But this time, I also started teaching with Eco Dive Center. When a full-time dive travel agent position opened at Bluewater Travel, I jumped at the opportunity and haven’t looked back—eventually working up to my current role as general manager. Along the way, I discovered a deep love of underwater photography while leading dozens of trips to incredible dive destinations all over the world.
